Cradle of Hockey

Starr Trophy Room 2It was the students of King's College who adapted the game of "hurley to ice" which developed over time to the game of ice hockey. Visit the Cradle of Hockey where the students today still play on the pond at the Dill Farm next to King's-Edgehill School.

Howard Dill's Farm

Visit giant pumpkin patches and a seed centre at the home of Howard Dill, four-time World Champion pumpkin grower and developer of "Dill's Atlantic Giant" pvp pumpkin variety, which has produced world record pumpkins up to 496 kg (1,092 lb). Mr. Dill is a previous Guinness World Record holder.

Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia

Touring theatre for the young, known for its unique blend of puppets and performers and for its unusual retelling of traditional and contemporary children's classics. Visitors can tour Mermaid's headquarters where props and puppets from their many productions are on display.

Trecothic Creek & Windsor Railway

Visit the "Birthplace of Hockey" museum. Artifacts include the equipment with which the game began - - wooden pucks, hand-made one-piece hockey sticks carved by the Mi'kmaq natives, stock skates and world-famous Starr skates - as well as early forms of protective equipment. Home of North America's oldest Agricultural Fair, established in 1765. With more than 4 acres undercover in sprinkled buildings, visitors can watch the various events in the Horse Show Arena and stroll through the Exhibit and 4H Buildings. An excellent location for meetings and conventions.
